Article Reads : The conservative connoisseurs Limited presented a miniature show featuring some of the island's leading entertainers at the Epiphany Club, Spanish Court in New Kingston on Wednesday evening.
Mr. Tony Laing, managing director of TTC Ltd. said that the show was arranged to present professional Jamaican entertainers who were ready for the market and to use the available outlets in the island.
Among those attending the representatives of the tourist industry, radio, television and press personalities and members of the Jamican Federation of Musicians, Mr, Seymad Mullings, Parliamentary Sectary in the Prime Minister's Office represented the Prime Minister.
In addressing the group, Mr. Lellings apologized for the absence of the Prime Minister whom he said had tremendous interest in the cultural activities of Jamaica. In commending TCC he said he hoped they would fill the gap which had been open for a long time in the entertainment field. Mr. Mullings called on the Jamaica School of Art to expand its facilities so that popular music could be taught. Finally he wished TCC continued success and implored them to work together with other organizations committed to the improvement of Jamaican entertainment.
The General Manager of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association, Mr. Russel Leward said he was impressed with the show and TCC could rest assured that there would be greater co-operation between them and the JHTA in the future.
On stage were the Pep Tee Winston Clarke, The Shadows, Neville Willoughby, Larry McDonald, The Fabulous Glarnes and Tito Simon. Musical accompaniment was provided by the Sonny Bradshaw Band.
